I recently visited an exhibition showcasing Magdalena Abakanowicz's captivating weaved, fibrous forest installation. Her woven shapes, representing trees and their sheltering essence, left a lasting impression on me. Coincidentally, I was working on a project centered around climate change and wildfires. The tragic devastation of my childhood forest in Gironde, France, months ago made the shadows cast by Abakanowicz's shapes even more poignant, symbolizing the loss of my once-safe sanctuary. Motivated by this connection, I photographed the shadows and transformed them into linocut and collagraph prints, expressing the transformative effects of climate change.
